AI for Disasters + Emergencies Initiative

As natural disasters become more intense and frequent, communities across the country face growing challenges with fewer resources. State and local governments are on the front lines of disaster response.

How can technologies help them better prepare, respond, and recover? At this pivotal moment in AI adoption, we have an extraordinary opportunity to harness this transformative technology for the public good.

The AI for Disasters + Emergencies Initiative (AIDE), in partnership with the Markle Foundation, is a multi-sector, bipartisan effort to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to help communities and emergency managers better prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural disasters.

By focusing on both local implementation and national impact, the AIDE Initiative aims to demonstrate AI’s life-saving potential while advancing America’s leadership in responsible innovation.
