James Henderson

James Henderson is Agriculture Program Lead at the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, where he works to strengthen political support for agricultural data and statistics with the Rome-based UN agencies (FAO, IFAD, WFP) and the diplomatic community, including as an observer to the Committee on World Food Security. He coordinates a network of like-minded member states championing food security data within FAO governance, and supports countries across Africa to build national agricultural data systems that inform food security policy based on national priorities and the African Union’s CAADP agenda. His work sits at the intersection of technical data systems, data governance, and the political processes that determine whether data gets used. His research background spans land use science and supply chain transparency, including with the Stockholm Environment Institute’s Trase initiative and doctoral work at the University of Bonn (ZEF), examining how data gaps shape the effective governance of agricultural trade.
