John F. Reid is Executive Director of the Center for Digital Agriculture at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He holds appointments in the Siebel School of Computing and Data Science and the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Dr. Reid’s career spans academia and industry, including leadership roles at Deere & Company, where he served as Director of Enterprise Product Innovation and Technology and helped pioneer field robotics and autonomous systems for agriculture. His research focuses on digital agriculture, artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomy, machine perception, and data-driven decision support for food and agricultural systems. At Illinois, he leads initiatives that bring together researchers, industry, government, and producers to accelerate the development and adoption of trusted AI and digital technologies that improve agricultural productivity, sustainability, resilience, and food security.
