Dr. Bernd Pichlmayer is a leading European cybersecurity strategist and founder and CEO of FTGG Cyber, a boutique advisory firm at the intersection of technology, security, and geopolitics. He counsels governments, global technology companies, and critical infrastructure operators on European cyber regulation, digital sovereignty, and the geopolitical implications of emerging technologies. His work supports executives and governmental decision makers on navigating the rapidly evolving security, regulatory, and threat landscape in Europe.

Before establishing FTGG Cyber, Dr. Pichlmayer served as Cybersecurity Advisor to several Federal Chancellors of Austria. In this capacity, he coordinated all federal cybersecurity matters at the political level and represented Austria in international cyber diplomacy. He led Austria’s delegation to the Counter Ransomware Initiative at the White House and served as the national representative on the Governing Board of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre – Europe’s central institution for future cyber capabilities and resilience.

Dr. Pichlmayer is engaged in academic scholarship and teaching at the intersection of cyber strategy, governance, and regulation. His recent publications with the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) examine the evolving duties and accountability of boards and executive leadership in the cyber domain. In parallel, he lectures at Austrian universities and contributes to executive education as a permanent keynote speaker in the Republic of Austria’s Strategic Leadership Program.

He holds a PhD in law from the University of Vienna and an Executive Master of Business Law from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland.
