Eli Sugarman is a Fellow within Schmidt Futures Talent Ventures focusing on cybersecurity, content moderation, and technology policy issues.

Previously, he was Vice President of Content (Moderation) and the Meta/Facebook Oversight Board. There, he led the trust and safety teams of an experimental online safety and speech regulator that guides Facebook and Instagram on their most challenging content decisions globally. Before that, he was Director of the Cyber Initiative at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation where he led a ten-year, $130 million grant-making effort to build a more robust and inclusive cyber policy field.

Eli also serves on the boards of the Institute for Security and Technology and the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani; the Advisory Board of the CyberPeace Institute; and, the Independent Advisory Committee of the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism.
