Fabio Peña is the Cybersecurity and IT Compliance leader at Copa Airlines, with 20+ years of experience driving technology strategy and large-scale transformation across the airline industry and financial services. Peña focuses on strengthening organizational resilience by aligning cybersecurity, governance, and compliance with business priorities, operational continuity, and customer trust.
Throughout his career, he has led enterprise-wide initiatives in infrastructure modernization, security transformation, and strategic technology delivery, including the technology implementation for WINGO (LCC airline) and data center migrations in the United States. He also has hands-on experience designing and implementing security architecture to protect digital services, ensuring secure-by-design platforms, risk-based controls, and scalable protection for business-critical channels.
Peña’s leadership combines governance with execution: building security capabilities that work in real operations. This includes developing and operationalizing incident response plans and teams to improve detection, containment, and recovery from cyber events—reducing downtime, limiting impact, and strengthening readiness across stakeholders.
Peña brings deep experience in security governance and regulatory frameworks, including SOX 404, PCI, PII protection, and COBIT, as well as technology and operational renewal processes. He has also been responsible for directing and optimizing corporate IT infrastructure across Copa Airlines and Copa Airlines Colombia, ensuring availability, performance, and secure operations aligned with corporate strategy, policies, and evolving industry trends.
He is passionate about building security cultures, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, and modernizing cybersecurity capabilities to address evolving threats in highly regulated and operationally complex environments.
