Gisèle Yasmeen

Gisèle Yasmeen is JW McConnell Professor of Practice at the Max Bell School of Public Policy at McGill University. Her expertise is on food-systems, on which she has published, taught, and consulted since the early 1990s. She is also a former senior research and higher education executive who has served in the Canadian federal government, universities and the not-for-profit sector. Dr. Yasmeen has advised numerous Canadian and international clients including the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the World Bank. Dr. Yasmeen has served on several boards and is currently a director of the Council for Canadian Academies and Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. She is also on the International Advisory Council of the Centre for Open Societal Systems, the advisory board of the Margaret A. Gilliam Institute for Global Food Security at McGill University and Women in Science Diplomacy – Canada. Dr. Yasmeen provides regular media commentary in English and French and is a former radio columnist. She has worked all over the world and has studied several languages. She has a PhD from the University of British Columbia and a master’s from McGill.
