Washington, D.C., May 21st, 2026 – Today, Aspen Digital, a program of the Aspen Institute, is announcing a collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Office (NCO) of the Government of Japan for the Spring 2026 Aspen Global Cybersecurity Group from May 25-27 in Tokyo.

The Aspen Global Cybersecurity Group, an invite-only assembly of government officials, private sector executives, and civil security experts, convenes at a critical moment as geopolitical tensions and advances in AI reshape the threat landscape. The Tokyo dialogue will bring together these premier global cyber leaders to focus on strategies and responses to emerging threats, advanced AI models, and cybercrime across the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

“Japan is a vital partner in maintaining a secure, open, and resilient digital ecosystem,” said Matt Altomare, Senior Director of Cybersecurity Programs at Aspen Digital. “We are honored to work with the NCO for this convening. By bringing together our wide ranging network of top global cyber experts with Japanese leadership, we aim to move beyond dialogue and toward actions that mitigate the most pressing cyber threats facing our interconnected economies.”

During the two-day, closed-door session, members, including senior representatives from organizations such as AWS, CoreWeave, Google, and Mastercard, alongside former and current leadership across multiple governments, will engage in deep-dive policy dialogues.

“Cybersecurity is the foundation of the free and open digital space that underpins our shared prosperity,” said Yoichi Iida, National Cyber Director of the Government of Japan. “Japan has taken significant steps to enhance its own capabilities and to fully implement Active Cyber Defense. At the same time, we recognize that no nation can achieve cybersecurity alone. National and regional resilience, public-private collaboration, and international collaboration must move forward together. We welcome this opportunity to bring together global cyber leaders and experts in Tokyo, and we appreciate Aspen Digital’s leadership in making this collaboration possible.”

The Tokyo meeting reflects Aspen Digital’s mission to provide a non-partisan transnational forum for solving the most complex challenges in the digital domain. Outcomes from the private discussions are expected to inform future policy recommendations for industry, national governments, and international bodies.
