Cybersecurity is not just a technical matter, but an issue of national security as well as economic and geopolitical importance. How can the new U.S. Presidential Administration act on its long-term cybersecurity policy priorities?

In this report, the Aspen Institute’s US Cybersecurity Group recommends the following priorities:

People – Demonstrate Cybersecurity Leadership and Prepare for Immediate Response
Regulations – Prioritize Cybersecurity Regulatory Alignment and Streamlining
Partnerships – Partner with the Private Sector to Protect Critical Infrastructure and Hold Bad Actors Accountable
Metrics – Continue Building Mechanisms to Measure Progress
Communication – Reset the Discussion with Improved Communications Around Cybersecurity Issues

Our network is prepared to help move these priorities forward, including the launch of onboarding sessions for new government leaders. These sessions, led by industry leaders, will focus on understanding the current state of cybersecurity, the authorities and constraints of each department and agency, and best practices for moving these cybersecurity priorities forward.
