WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 25, 2024 – The Aspen Institute’s premier annual technology and cybersecurity summit will be held in the nation’s capital for the first time this fall, bringing together leading national and international voices from government, industry, and civil society.

A rare appearance by top leaders from all of the Five Eyes will headline the ninth annual Aspen Cyber Summit. Australian Cyber Security Centre Head Abigail Bradshaw, New Zealand National Cyber Security Centre Head Lisa Fong, Canadian Centre for Cyber Security Head Sami Khoury, NSA Cybersecurity Director David Luber, and UK National Cyber Security Centre (GCHQ) CEO Felicity Oswald will speak together, a joint appearance by intelligence leaders from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US, and the UK. It will mark only the third time in history that representatives of the critical Five Eyes intelligence alliance have appeared together in public — and the first time ever in Washington, DC.

Hosted by Aspen Digital, the 2024 Cyber Summit will be held on September 18 at the REACH at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, one of the capital’s most iconic venues. The event will convene approximately 300 cybersecurity thinkers and leaders in a year that has highlighted still-rising security threats to the world’s digital infrastructure, as well as the effects of technological risks amid wide-ranging global elections, unprecedented geopolitical conflict, and fast-moving developments in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).

This year’s event will include panels and discussions focused on national security and China, tech regulation and data privacy, preparing for the post-quantum future, cyber education and awareness, and the influence of AI on elections, along with keynote addresses from top US and foreign government officials.

Since its inception in 2016, the Aspen Cyber Summit — which previously has been held in Boston, San Francisco, New York City, and Aspen — has hosted each year the biggest names in cybersecurity and national security, including Cabinet, sub-Cabinet, and administration leaders. These include the White House Homeland Security Advisor, National Cyber Director, Deputy Attorney General, Deputy Secretary of Energy, and Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence. Year after year, national security leaders also take the stage, like the NSA Director, TSA Administrator, CISA Director, Secret Service Director, and executives from the FBI, CIA, and Defense Department, as well as senior officials from foreign governments and allies. This is in addition to Capitol Hill leaders, state elected officials, and top US and international corporate executives, including Microsoft President Brad Smith, Southern Company CEO Tom Fanning, Splunk CEO Gary Steele, and leaders from IBM, Google, CVS, Johnson & Johnson, and more.
