To create a just and equitable AI future, the ecosystem surrounding technologies like machine learning needs to shift toward the public interest and public accountability.
Now is the time for concerted cross-community coordination, information-sharing, and network-building, to amplify public AI.
Big Tech companies are vying against each other to build the next big AI product. But industry players have repeatedly failed to prioritize innovation in the public interest. While there is great potential for AI systems that serve diverse communities, we need to build out a new public ecosystem to make it a reality.
Aspen Digital convenes a network bridging government, civil society, and academia to increase the capacity of leaders from each sector to build a more public AI ecosystem. Through strategic coordination, we are organizing working groups and private events, and facilitating unconventional partnerships between the diverse group contributing toward this ambitious vision for positive AI futures.
